Roll Profiling Systems
A PRO-MIC Roll Profiling Systems is a saddle micrometer mounted electronic measurement device which measures roll profile (change in diameter) up to 10x per inch (2mm) of travel to a standard resolution of 0.000020" (0.0005mm) repeatable time after time. High Resolution of 0.000005"/0.0001mm is optional.
PRO-MIC units enable roll grinder operators to produce substantially better roll profiles with existing equipment by accurately measuring crown, crown location and taper and presenting them in an easily understood format.
As a convenient, portable measuring tool the PRO-MIC also enables users to measure roll wear, calibrate grinder mounted profiling equipment and document work for customers or from suppliers.
One customer who uses his PRO-MIC only several times a year to check large rolls in the machine has reported "it pays for itself every time we use it.
One PRO-MIC system easily covers the output of two grinders. Also, the PRO-MIC electronics package can be shared between two mechanical frame sizes.
Current generation PRO-MICs are all Digital and therefore do not require periodic calibration adjustment. Bluetooth wireless communication is also available for easy downloading to your PC.
Common diameter ranges for PRO-MIC systems include:
4" x 22" (1OOmm to 560mm)
8" x 32" (200mm to 800mm)
8" x 40" (200mm to 1015mm)
16" x 48" (400mm to 1200mm)
16" x 64" (400mm to 1600mm)
The new Digital PRO-MIC supplies 0.400"/10mm measurement range.
The latest addition to our Roll Measurement Systems is a unit designed to profile rolls, in the machine or mill, with as little as 35mm/1.38" of clearance around the roll.
The more than 750 PRO-MIC systems in daily use share three outstanding characteristics: Ease of operation; Repeatability and Reliability.
The saddle micrometer based, patented, dual probe PRO-MIC TRUE End-to-End system profiles the entire roll body in one continuous pass without operator influence and is recognized as the world leader in portable roll profiling equipment.
